We are a region with a highly creative community of visual artists, glass blowers and wood carvers to mention a few - a region offering the feel good factor - from open-air market, golden beaches, national parks, wineries, cafes, you name it - it can be enjoyed in Nelson.


Mountain biking is a religion here

Fantastic mountain bike trails - enjoy the challenge of Dun Mountain or Coppermine Saddle route.

From Pic's Peanut Butter, Proper Crisps, Karakari Olive Oil through to Chia Sisters Drinks - we can’t list them all but our region offers wonderful producers growing and making their own products.


Our gorgeous sunny weather 

Nelson is a vibrant place, and the long sunshine hours have its part to play here! There are plenty of things to do outdoors in sunny Nelson and you will surely find something you'll enjoy!

The hidden beauty

We have the Abel Tasman National park and the Heaphy Track but there are also some great local walks that only the locals know about - try exploring the Grampians walks - fantastic views over the city and the Tasman Bay - the Queens and Miyazu Gardens -both  little oasis in the city - the golden sands of Tahuna Beach.

Our Festivals

Nelson festivals are renowned for celebrating all that is local to us - time your visit to enjoy our festivals - in Winter there is the Te Ramaroa Festival of Light, Spring we have the Nelson Arts Festival, Summer is a whole festival - with the likes of Bay Dreams, Sarau Festival, Marchfest and the Evolve Festival Nelson to mention a few.
